Average Commute Time in Seoul 41.2 Minutes

The average commute time for Seoul citizens and students marked 41-point-two minutes, the longest among the nation’s cities and provinces.

The 2010 census by Statistics Korea shows that the average commute time for South Koreans came to 32-point-nine minutes last year, two-point-three minutes longer than in 2005.

By region, Seoul has the longest commute time with 41-point-two minutes, while South Jeolla and Gangwon provinces have the shortest with 21-point-three minutes.

Roughly one out of four Seoul citizens, or 24-point-two percent, spends more than one hour for their commute. The ratio was 22-point-eight percent in Gyeonggi, 22 percent in Incheon and three-point-two percent in South Jeolla.
