Veteran Diplomat Named New Deputy National Security Adviser

President Moon Jae-in has named veteran diplomat Kim Hyoung-zhin as his new deputy national security adviser.

He replaces Kim Hyung-chong, who leaves the office after a year and eleven months on the job. The former deputy national security adviser was named the new presidential special advisor for foreign affairs.

Kim Hyoung-zhin was the Seoul Metropolitan Government's ambassador for international relations.

He is known as an expert on the United States, having served as a high-ranking diplomat in the country and as head of the Foreign Ministry's North America desk.

He has also served as deputy foreign minister for political affairs.

Moon also named lawyer Lee Jung-hee as the new deputy head of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
