Four LKP Presidential Contenders Decided

The final four contenders for the former ruling Liberty Korea Party’s(LKP) nominee for the upcoming presidential election have been decided.

South Gyeongsang Province Governor Hong Joon-pyo, North Gyeongsang Governor Kim Kwan-yong, Rep. Kim Jin-tae and former party supreme council member Rhee In-je are the remaining candidates from an initial nine.

The LKP’s election committee chief Kim Kwang-lim announced the results of the second round of the competition on Monday, which pushed Representatives Ahn Sang-soo and Won Yoo-chul out of the race.

The party will announce its presidential candidate at the national convention on Friday of next week. The winner of the primary will be decided by the executive party members’ vote on Sunday and the general public vote on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
