Over 52,000 S. Korean Voters in US Register for Presidential Election

More than 52-thousand South Koreans in the United States have registered to cast their ballots in the May ninth presidential election as of Monday.

The figure already surpassed the registered number for the previous presidential election of 51-thousand-794.

Given the registration period expires on Thursday, the figure is expected to easily exceed 60-thousand.

An election official at the South Korean Consulate General in Los Angeles told a Seoul-based news agency that Korean voters’ interest in the election is very high in contrast to previous elections. He cited a sharp increase in the number of people who registered online or visited diplomatic missions for registration.
