Candidates on the Go as Official Presidential Campaign Begins

As the official presidential campaign kicked off on Monday, major presidential candidates wasted no time hitting the trail to woo voters.
 
A total of 15 presidential candidates will try to maximize their shot at the presidency during the 22-day period which will run through May 8th before the election the next day.
 
Democratic Party's Moon Jae-in headed to Daegu on Monday morning, becoming the first nominee in the history of the left-leaning party to launch an official presidential campaign in the conservative city.
 
In Daegu, Moon will first pay tribute to the memorial park commemorating a democratic movement in the city before introducing his job creation plans at the Daegu Seongseo Industrial Complex.
 
People's Party presidential hopeful Ahn Cheol-soo began his official campaign by visiting the Vessel Traffic Services Center(VTS) at the Incheon Port. 
 
His aides said Ahn chose the venue as his first official destination to emphasize his resolve to safeguard the safety of the public.
 
Conservative candidate Hong Joon-pyo from the former ruling Liberty Korea Party(LKP) also chose Daegu as his first venue for his official campaign.
 
He plans to hold a large-sized campaign event at Daegu’s populous area Dongseongno. On Monday, he will also chair a party’s emergency election committee meeting in the city.
 
Yoo Seong-min of the splinter conservative Bareun Party visited the Seoul Emergency Operations Center upon the launch of the official campaign period and exchanged greetings with firefighters at the center.
 
Sim Sang-jeung from the progressive Justice Party launched her official campaign by visiting a vehicle base run by the Seoul Metro. She met with the non-regular workers at the base to hear about their working conditions.
