Early Voting to Elect S. Korean President Begins

Early voting to elect the next South Korean president began at over three thousand polling booths across the country on Thursday.

For two days between six a.m. and six p.m., a total of three-thousand-507 polling stations will be available for any adult South Korean citizens who are willing to cast a ballot in advance of the snap presidential election slated for next Tuesday.

They can cast a ballot at any of the polling stations, regardless of their residence, as long as they have a photo ID such as a passport or resident registration card.

People can also vote at makeshift stations set up at populous areas such as Seoul Station, Yongsan Station and Incheon International Airport.

It is the first time an early voting system has been applied to the presidential election in South Korea. The early voting system was introduced in January of 2013.
