Presidential Candidates Rally for Support

Major presidential candidates are stumping across the country on Saturday, with just three days until the presidential election.

Moon Jae-in of the liberal Democratic Party(DP) plans to hold a “free hug” event in the Hongdae area in Seoul on Saturday evening, fulfilling a pledge to give out free hugs if early voting turnout reached 25 percent.

Conservative Hong Joon-pyo of the former ruling Liberty Korea Party(LKP) held a news conference at his party headquarters in Seoul to appeal for conservative voters. He then headed out to Gyeonggi Province and Incheon before visiting Gongju, South Chungcheong Province.

In last-ditch efforts to boost public support, Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party is continuing his campaign “120 Hours of Walking to the People,” a five-day tour all over the country. Ahn met with voters in person in Gwangju, Jeolla Province, a liberal stronghold on Saturday.

Yoo Seong-min of the splinter conservative Bareun Party visited the House of Sharing in Gyeonggi Province, a home for victims of Japan's wartime sexual slavery, to attend an event for the victims. He also reached out to voters at the Suwon World Cup Stadium and Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.

Sim Sang-jeung of the progressive Justice Party campaigned in Gyeonggi Province Saturday, meeting first with voters at Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon City before heading to a park in Anyang City.
