White House Congratulates Moon and Looks Forward to Strengthening Alliance

The White House congratulated President Moon Jae-in on his successful campaign and said it looks forward to working with him to strengthen the South Korea-U.S. alliance.
 
In a written statement, the White House said it congratulates President Moon and joins the people of Korea in celebrating their peaceful and democratic transition of power.
 
It added the U.S. looks forward to deepening the enduring friendship and partnership between the two countries.
 
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said U.S. President Trump looks forward to meeting with South Korea's new President and discussing shared interests.
 
Meanwhile the Wall Street Journal reported the election news saying that a supporter of inter-Korean relations has won the election.
 
The New York Times said President Moon could shake the geopolitical landscape on the peninsula amid confrontation over North Korea's nuclear issue.
 
The Washington Post said Moon's policy of embracing the North could bode ill for Seoul-Washington relations.
