German, Indian and Mexican Leaders Congratulate Moon
German Chancellor Angela Merkel extended her congratulations to President Moon Jae-in on his election victory.
Merkel sent a congratulatory message to Moon on Wednesday and expressed hope that South Korea and Germany will further promote friendly ties and bilateral cooperation.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he warmly congratulates Moon upon his election as president of the Republic of Korea. He then wrote in Korean that he hopes to meet Moon in the near future to deepen cooperation with South Korea which he called India’s special strategic partner.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto also sent his congratulations to South Korea’s new president via Twitter.
Nieto said that his country will continue to engage in dialogue with South Korea in international gatherings, including meetings of the UN, G-20, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and MIKTA, a consultative forum among Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia.
