Contest Schedule

  • June 28
    - Preliminary Application Begins
  • August 1st
    - The deadline for preliminary entries has been pushed back one week to August 1st, 24:00 KST.
  • Early August
    - Announcement of Finalists (The Top 12)
  • Aug. 6 ~ Aug. 20
    - Voting for Most Popular Video Award
  • Early September
    - Online Quiz Show for the Top 12
  • October 9
    - Special Program & Announcement of Winners

Eligibility

  • - Foreign nationals living outside of Korea are eligible. All however, naturalized Koreans and foreign nationals of Korean descendents are ineligible.
  • - Participants residing in Europe must be 16 years of age or older, or over the minimum age set by their respective home countries.

How to Enter the Contest

Preliminaries
  • 01Make sure to fully understand the given topic.
  • 02Write a script in Korean first then film your Korean language video
  • 03You must appear in the video yourself.
  • 04Submit your video and script to KBS WORLD Radio.

Final Round

- Twelve finalists will take part in the last competition, "Online Quiz Show," which will be held virtually.

  • - Notifications and announcements regarding the contests will be sent to the participants via the e-mail addresses provided by each participant. KBS WORLD Radio will not be held responsible for any miscommunication arising from the participant’s failure to check or read the e-mails.
  • - Videos submitted to the contest may be used in programs or other promotional materials produced by KBS WORLD Radio.

FAQ

Can foreign nationals residing in Korea participate in the contest?
No. Applicants must reside outside of Korea.
How will the contestants be judged?
Decisions will be made through judges' evaluations.
What will the contestants be judged on?
Contestants will be judged on their vocabulary, pronunciation, attitude, grammar, and the contents of the speech(creativity, relevance etc.).
Are there any documents that must be submitted by the contestant?
Contestants must submit their scripts along with the videos.
How will the TOP 12 be notified?
Winners will be announced on our website and also individually via the e-mail address submitted by each contestant.
What happens if a submitted video violates any copyright laws?
Any plagiarized work or work that has been awarded in other contests will be disqualified. The maker of the video will be responsible for any copyright infringement committed on and/or by the video. A video or a script submitted may be disqualified if it is suspected of copyright infringement. If copyright infringement is proved after the script or video in question wins a prize, the accolades will be revoked. * If a contestant's submitted contents have violated another contestant's rights, please inform the KBS WORLD Radio Korean Language Contest team at
