19 Yr-olds to Cast 1st Ballots in Oct. By-elections
The October 26th by-elections will see the participation of 19-year-old voters for the first time.
The National Assembly passed a bill in June lowering the legal voting age from 20 to 19.
Meanwhile, the National Election Commission says the four areas where the elections will be held, including Daegu and Ulsan, contain some 38,000 eligible 19-year-old voters.
The commission also eased requirements for absentee voters in the upcoming elections to facilitate participation among people with physical or job-related inconveniences.
