Hyundai to Build Auto Plant in Czech Republic
Hyundai Motor is moving to build a large-scale plant in the Czech Republic targeting the European market.
Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Mong-koo proposed the idea Friday during a meeting with Czech Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek in Prague.
Hyundai plans to invest a total of one billion euros or one-point-two trillion won next year, aimed at producing three-hundred-thousand-units annually at the plant from the second half of 2008.
The most likely candidate site for housing the plant is Ostrava, two-hundred-30 kilometers east of Prague.
The prime minister was reported to have responded positively, pledging full support and special attention at both government and private levels for the company’s bid.
