Gov't to Implement Int'l GMO Standards
The government is seeking to introduce international standards on detecting genetically modified organisms (GMO) in food products.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said Wednesday that it is planning on adopting four types of GMO detection standards into the Korean system.
The ministry said the application of the standards in the nation will not only protect the health and safety of consumers but also better prepare the nation for free trade negotiations in the agriculture sector.
