Pres. Weekly Meetings to Speed Legislation

News2006-11-03

The presidential office will help fast-track bills relating to the economy or governmental reform by holding weekly meetings to review the legislation process.

Presidential spokesman Yoon Tae-young told a regular Friday briefing that the new support system will enhance quality of life and boost institutional reform through regular consultations with political parties over proposed legislation.

The weekly meetings will continue until the end of this year's regular National Assembly session.

Currently, more than two hundred-50 economy- or reform-related bills are pending at the Assembly.

This includes 12 bills from 2004 and 65 from last year.
