Prosecutors to Keep Filing for Warrants in Lone Star Case

Prosecutors have decided to reapply for warrants to arrest executives of U.S. private equity fund Lone Star even if the court turns down their second request. The executives are suspected of stock price-fixing to take over Korea Exchange Bank at a discounted price.

Senior prosecutor Chae Dong-wook said in a briefing Tuesday that if the court again rejects their warrant applications, prosecutors will collect more evidence and file a third request.

The court is expected to decide on warrants for Vice Chairman Ellis Short, General Counsel Michael Thompson and Lone Star Advisors Korea head Yoo Hoe-won Tuesday night.

Prosecutors plan to apply for arrest warrants against former Finance Ministry director-general Byun Yang-ho and several government officials this week earlier than scheduled.
