Gov’t Approves Special Counsel Bill for Slush Fund Scandal
The Cabinet has approved a bill to appoint an independent counsel to look into the Samsung slush fund allegations.
President Roh Moo-hyun will appoint an investigator from a list of candidates recommended by the Korean Bar Association.
The independent investigation could start as late as January as the special counsel will need time to research the case.
Meanwhile, the government also approved a bill that bans discrimination on the basis of age, gender, and regional background among other forms of bias.
