Remains of Korean Conscripts to Return Home
Remains of Korean victims who were conscripted for service in Japan’s workforce or military during the Japanese colonial period will return home Friday, more than 60 years after the nation& 039 s liberation.
The South Korean Embassy in Japan on Thursday said the remains of 59 Koreans will be shipped home Friday from Tokyo’s Haneda airport.
The embassy held a ceremony at the Yutenji Temple in Tokyo in memory of the victims.
The 59 Koreans whose remains were positively identified by their families in South Korea are among some one-thousand sets of Korean remains kept by the temple.
