Gov't to Create Marine Forest
The government will create 100-hectares worth of marine forest in five areas to combat the effects of ocean desertification.
The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said Wednesday that the government will invest 300 billion won to create marine forests in areas near Gangwon Province, North Gyeongsang Province and the southern coast.
The project aims to cultivate algae and other marine plants in coastal regions that are drying up.
The ministry expects the creation of the massive marine forests will restore the spawning habitat of marine organisms and lead to the creation of various businesses related to marine life.
