Nation Posts Trade Surplus for 6th Month
The nation posted a trade surplus for the sixth straight month in July due to imports declining more sharply than exports amid a global economic slowdown.
The Korea Customs Service said Thursday that the nation posted a trade surplus of four-point-four billion dollars last month, down two-point-eight billion dollars from the record total put up in June.
The nation's cumulative exports from January to July totaled 197 billion dollars, down 23 percent from a year ago.
Cumulative imports came to 172 billion dollars, down 35 percent, for a cumulative trade surplus of 25 billion dollars.
