Domestic rice production this year is expected to grow two-point-six percent over the average year.

The National Statistical Office is estimating that almost four-point-seven million tons of rice will be produced this year.

The figure is three-point-three percent lower than last year but 117-thousand tons more than the average.

Production will also increase to 508 kilograms per ten hectares, up two-point-four percent over the average year.

South Chungcheong Province will be the largest rice producer in terms of production per ten hectares, followed by North Jeolla Province and North Chungcheong Province.
