N. Korea Focuses on Internal Unity After Party Congress Ends
North Korea is shoring up domestic solidarity following the conclusion of a rare party congress and military parade by urging party members and citizens to study the decisions that came out of the events.
The ruling Workers Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun on Saturday published a summary of results of the party congress on the first page and called on the public to inscribe the basic ideologies in their hearts to push forward with a triumphant fight to establish socialism.
The paper said that prejudices and deficiencies in all areas must be overcome to fend off existing external challenges that include the triple distress of sanctions, COVID-19 and flood damage.
As for relations with the U.S., the paper claimed that despite North Korea's patience and goodwill, Washington's hostile policies have increased and stressed the importance of self-reliance.
The article also warned against self-admiration and arrogance and said the economy can't be revived through incompetence, irresponsibility and the old way of doing business.
