US National Security Adviser Says Review of N. Korea Policy Under Way

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Thursday that the U.S. is still conducting a review of its policy towards North Korea.

Sullivan made the remarks during a press briefing when asked if U.S. President Joe Biden intends to continue diplomacy with North Korea or may meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The security adviser said that President Biden told President Moon Jae-in last night that the review is under way and that the U.S. will consult closely with its allies, particularly with South Korea and Japan in carrying it out.

He also said the Department of Defense will lead a global review of the U.S. force posture and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Germany will be frozen.

The Biden administration has said it is conducting an overall review of its North Korea policy under the judgement that the policies of the previous administration worsened the North Korean nuclear issue.
