N. Korean Leader Calls for Stronger Legal Controls in Economic Plans
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reportedly called for stronger legal controls in establishing and implementing economic plans.
The remarks came on Wednesday, on the third day of a Workers' Party meeting to discuss follow-up measures on plans set forth at last month's party congress.
According to the North's Korean Central News Agency on Thursday, Kim stressed the importance of strengthening legal supervision and control over establishing and implementing economic development plans.
He ordered legislative bodies, including the prosecution, to carry out a "legal battle" against illegal practices in economic activities, adding that each sector must comply.
At a subsequent debate, party officers criticized economic officials for setting production plans excessively low to avoid responsibility.
