N. Korean Leader Calls for Increase in Agricultural Production
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reportedly urged regional party leaders to increase agricultural production, setting it as a priority task for the country's economic policies.
The North's state media outlet Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) said on Friday that Kim made the call at the end of a short workshop for city and county chief secretaries on Thursday.
The workshop, which began on Wednesday, marked the country's first such event.
Kim said that North Korean-style socialism will prosper when party committees of cities and counties carry out their duties and roles properly.
He then presented increasing agricultural production as a priority economic task, calling for scientific planning and thorough execution of agricultural operations.
