N. Korea to Convene Supreme People's Assembly Next Month

North Korea is set to convene its rubber-stamp parliament next month to discuss a variety of issues, including changes in the law on the national economic plan amid continuing difficulties due to COVID-19 and natural disasters.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Thursday that the standing committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly(SPA) held a meeting on Tuesday and decided to convene the fifth meeting of the 14th SPA in Pyongyang on September 28.

According to the KCNA, the upcoming parliamentary session will deal with changes and additions to the national economic plan law and adopting a law on city and county development.

Other cited agenda items include the law regarding the education of young people, the enforcement of the law on recycling and organizational issues.

Meanwhile, during the Tuesday meeting presided over by SPA presidium president Choe Ryong-hae, the SPA standing committee decided on changes to laws on road traffic and forests.
