'Loss of Consciousness Caused F-15K Crash'

The Air Force says the crash of an F-15K fighter jet into the East Sea in early June is believed to have been caused by a momentary loss of consciousness by the pilots.

In a probe report on the crash, air force officials said Friday that the pilots may have lost their consciousness because of a rapid increase of gravitational acceleration while abruptly climbing from low altitude during a night time training session.

The officials said although the Air Force failed to recover the plane’s flight recorder that it reached the conclusion based on an investigation into the aircraft’s engine parts and a warning system.

Based on the probe, the Air Force concluded that there were no defects or flaws in the aircraft or engine.

With the probe results, the Air Force decided to resume trainings using the F-15K fighter jets as well as plans to introduce the aircraft.
