Korean-Developed English Test Exported
A domestically developed test of English proficiency is being exported to other countries, in the wake of mounting criticism over the Test of English as a Second Language, or TOEFL.
ESP Testing Academy administers the test called English Speaking Proficiency, and says the Columbia Technical School in the U.S. state of Washington has recently established a center for testing the conversational and comprehensional abilities of students of English as a second language.
An English-language academy in the Philippine capital of Manila has also signed a contract to use the test.
Several Chinese universities and language academies have also signed preliminary agreements to use the test.
The academy said the test is recognized for helping evaluate a student of English in less than 20 minutes through the Internet.
