Gov't Braces for Typhoon Usagi
The government has ordered disaster management agencies to brace for Typhoon Usagi as the storm moves northward from Japan.
After a plenary meeting of the National Emergency Management Agency presided over by Home Minister Park Myung-jae on Thursday, the government ordered the agency to take action, putting related agencies on full alert.
The agencies are charged with establishing and operating an emergency communication system to come swiftly to the aid of isolated regions affected by the storm.
The government's actions come after the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a special typhoon warning earlier in the day.
