Envoy to Davos Promotes Biz Friendly Gov't

President-elect Lee Myung-bak's special envoy to the World Economic Forum at Davos has highlighted the incoming administration's business-friendly attitude in a presentation for global business leaders and policymakers.

Special envoy SaKong Il, who also chairs the presidential transition team's panel on national competitiveness, told the audience that Korea's bilateral free trade agreements will bring its institutional infrastructure in line with global standards. He said the benefits of deregulation and market opening will be granted equally to foreign firms.

The former finance minister also said the new government will create jobs and become a labor-friendly administration.

After the policy briefing, he met with renowned economist Fred Bergsten of the Institute for International Economics. On Friday, he will meet separately with U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab and World Bank President Robert Zoellick.
