Bird Flu Confirmed in Chuncheon
The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries says quarantine experts have verified that the sudden bird deaths reported Sunday in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province were caused by the highly pathogenic H-Five-N-One virus.
That brings the total number of virulent bird flu cases this year to 26 in 13 cities and counties nationwide.
The ministry also said two new reports on deaths of ducks and chickens are being examined in Busan, the nation's largest southern port.
