The Grand National Party will allow the return of a group of ex-ruling camp lawmakers.

Members of a splinter group loyal to former GNP Chairwoman Park Geun-hye had left earlier this year after failing to win party backing for last month's general elections.

The ruling party had previously insisted it would not take them back before its national convention in July. But the GNP changed its stance after a meeting of its supreme leadership committee Wednesday.

GNP spokeswoman Cho Yoon-sun said Chairman Kang Jae-sup decided to scrap an earlier policy against the return of pro-Park lawmakers.

After the meeting, Kang told reporters the lawmakers' return will be impossible this month, but it would be possible after the party’s new floor leader is selected in mid-May.
