The government has devised ways to improve the social safety net at a vice ministers’ meeting.

Among the measures, both the central and local governments will fill one percent of their staff with 2,600 young administrative interns.

Local governments will also give 2,800 jobseekers with a college degree an opportunity to build their careers while working as temporary staffers there.

The government will expand financial support for small-business owners, including increasing the guarantee on loan offers through a credit guarantee foundation.

The Prime Minister’s Office will regularly check the implementation of measures for strengthening the social safety net and will come up with additional steps based on changes in the economic situation.
