Two Koreas' Top Nuke Envoys Meet in Beijing

South Korea’s top nuclear envoy has met with his North Korean counterpart in Beijing ahead of the resumption of the six-party nuclear talks.

The meeting comes amid strained relations between the two Koreas.

South Korean chief nuclear negotiator Kim Sook discussed Pyongyang's nuclear verification with North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-kwan in a 75-minute meeting Monday afternoon.

The two also exchanged opinions about Seoul’s provision of economic and energy aid to Pyongyang in which the South Korean Foreign Ministry said the North is interested in.

The South Korean envoy also stressed the importance of developing inter-Korean ties in tandem with progress in the six-party nuclear talks.
