Health Insurance Coverage to be Restricted
The Health Ministry will revise a public health insurance law to tighten eligibility qualifications for foreigners and Koreans living overseas.
The ministry said that the revision will only allow foreigners and ethnic Koreans to take out public health insurance policies after having lived in Korea for longer than three months.
It said that the rising rate of health insurance subscriptions by foreigners and Koreans overseas have had a deteriorating effect on the nation’s health insurance fund.
