Korea Vows to Reduce Greenhouse Gas
Environment Minister Lee Maan-ee says Korea will do everything within its capacity for the reduction of greenhouse gases.
He made the remark in a keynote speech at the 14th U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change under way in Poznań, Poland.
Lee said that in order to make progress on the climate change issue, advanced nations should commit to drastic greenhouse gas reduction and developing nations should implement measures according to their ability.
He proposed that a registrar's office be created so that developing states can voluntarily register their reduction measures. He said Korea will announce next year the reduction goals it aims to achieve by 2020.
