Seoul Stocks Turn Lower

Korean stocks turned sharply lower Friday, after a five-day winning streak.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index tumbled 50.61 points, or 4.38 percent, to 1,103.82.

The index plunged below the 1,100-point mark at one point during the session but gained some lost ground in the afternoon.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ index also closed down 8.42 points, or 2.56 percent, at 320.07.

In Seoul's foreign exchange market, the Korean won finished at 1,372.50.
