Gov't to Monitor Inter-Korean Fund Spending
The Unification Ministry is devising standards to monitor whether inter-Korean cooperation funds have been properly spent.
The government uses the fund to provide financial support for private organizations involved in business or aid projects in North Korea.
The ministry is coming up with the standards at the request of the National Assembly to enhance transparency regarding the use of the fund.
The ministry will review whether the spending has achieved the goals set out for the fund, like promoting co-prosperity of the two Koreas, helping resolve the North Korean nuclear problem and facilitating humanitarian aid to North Koreans.
