Koreas Open Talks Behind Schedule

An inter-Korean working-level meeting on operations at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex opened 40 minutes later than scheduled on Thursday.

A Unification Ministry official said the meeting in the North Korean border city of Gaeseong was supposed to begin at ten a.m., but was delayed due to protracted preparatory discussions with North Korea.

South Korea's ten-member delegation entered North Korea at around 8:45 Thursday morning through the inter-Korean immigration office.

South Korea’s chief delegate, Kim Young-tak, said his delegation will discuss with the North the release of a South Korean worker who has been detained in the North for over 70 days for allegedly denouncing the Pyongyang regime. Derailed operations at the industrial park are also expected to top the meeting’s agenda.
