Koreas to Meet for 3rd Time in Gaeseong Fri.

Working-level officials from the two Koreas will meet for a third time in the North Korean city of Gaeseong to discuss pending issues regarding the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

The Unification Ministry said the talks will open at the South’s economic cooperation office at the inter-Korean business park on Friday morning.

Earlier on Monday, the government sent the North a list of 14 South Korean officials that will be taking part in Friday’s talks.

During the meeting, the government plans to convey to the North that it is willing to negotiate on demands ranging from North Korean workers’ accommodations to road construction, in-line with the basic principle of seeking stable development of the industrial park.

However, the South’s delegation is also expected to push some of its own demands, including seeking the release of a South Korean worker who has been detained at the joint industrial complex for nearly 80 days for allegedly denouncing the North Korean regime.

South Korean officials are also expected to reiterate Seoul’s demands that the North provide a mechanism that will guarantee the safety of South Korean workers at the complex as well as ask for eased restrictions on access into and out of the industrial park.
