5 More Cases of H1N1 Confirmed

South Korea confirmed five more cases of H1N1 influenza on Thursday.

The influenza center at the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs said five students and travelers who recently returned from the United States, Canada and the Philippines have tested positive for the virus.

An additional five students who are suspected of having contracted the flu virus have been quarantined upon their return from the U.S.

Eleven of the 14 confirmed or suspected cases Wednesday and Thursday are students who returned from the U.S. or Australia.

So far, the total number of confirmed H1N1 cases in Korea sits at 79.

Meanwhile, 26 visiting Australian athletes who were quarantined on Saturday have been released.
