Nation Marks 59th Anniversary of Korean War
The government held a ceremony on Thursday to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, the three-year conflict that began in 1950.
About five-thousand people attended the ceremony in Seoul, including government officials, party leaders, veterans and military officials.
About 70 American and Belgian veterans who fought in the war also attended, along with descendents of other foreign veterans from Australia and Canada.
Earlier in the day, a group of college students set off on a 12-day trip to visit battlefields of the war.
