Gov't to Announce Support Measures for Low-income Families

The government will announce a string of measures to support low-income households early next week.

Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun said Thursday that there are signs of economic recovery, but it will take a considerable amount of time for low-income households to feel improvement. He said the government will announce additional support measures for the low-income bracket early next week.

Yoon said the government will finds ways to supplement the Earned Income Tax Credit policy, so low-income households will be able to feel the effects of earnings support, and expand ways for small-loan finance.

The government also plans to form a consolidated welfare support system which will help find ways to provide housing for families with three or more children first, lower the interest rates for college loans, and allow divided payments for tuitions.
