Reserve Forces to be Tasked with Wartime Missions in NK
Reserve forces will be dispatched to help restore stability in North Korea if a war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula.
A government source said Tuesday that in the case of an inter-Korean war, 100-thousand reserve forces will be tasked with controlling and protecting North Korean civillians as well as disarming North Korean guerrilla forces.
The wartime mobilization of reserve forces is part of a revised military reform plan that was announced on June 26th.
The military is known to be reviewing a plan to designate and run 10 divisions of reserve forces for wartime civillian operations.
The designated reserve forces will begin their military exercise between 2010 and 2011.
