More Thermometers to be Made Available to Fight H1N1

The government will provide more thermometers to schools this month amid concerns about the spread of H1N1 influenza.

The Health Ministry and Education Ministry said thermometer producers and importers will make another 50-thousand thermometers available for purchase to elementary, middle and high schools nationwide this month in a move to pinpoint more students with high fevers, which is one of the leading indicators of the virus.

Upon the start of the new semester in September, the government ordered schools to measure the body temperature of their students every morning as a way to detect H1N1 infections.

But schools have been complaining about a shortage of thermometers.

The Health Ministry will reveal soon a list of eleven suppliers where the thermometers can be purchased.
