Gov't to Provide Relief Supplies to Samoa

The government will provide emergency humanitarian aid and relief supplies to help residents of American Samoa in the Pacific Ocean recover from a recent earthquake and tsunami.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young told a regular news briefing on Monday that the government has decided to provide about 100-thousand dollars worth of relief aid to the region in response to a request for emergency aid made by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The spokesman added that the government will, in addition, send South Koreans living in Samoa about ten-thousand dollars worth of relief supplies this week, including medicine and clothes.
