Ceremony Marks Anniversary of Kim DJ's Nobel Prize

A special ceremony was held in Seoul on Wednesday to mark the ninth anniversary of late President Kim Dae-jung’s winning of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Some 800 dignitaries, including former prime ministers and party leaders, took part in the event.

Korea University Emeritus Professor Kang Mang-kil and a senior fellow at the Sejong Institute, Paek Hak-soon, delivered special lectures that reviewed Kim’s winning of the prestigious prize. The speakers also stressed the need to create an amicable atmosphere between the two Koreas to resolve inter-Korean issues.

The event also included a performance by the Jirani Children Choir, made up of Kenyan children. The entry fees paid by the event’s participants will be donated to help the needy through the KBS Love Request charity.
