US: Bosworth to Arrive in Seoul Thurs.

U.S. special representative for North Korea policy Stephen Bosworth will arrive in South Korea on Thursday from Pyongyang as scheduled.

U.S. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters Thursday that Bosworth will discuss his trip to Pyongyang during a news conference shortly after he arrives in Seoul.

Kelly dismissed the possibility of Bosworth extending his stay in the communist state, saying that the timetable is proceeding as scheduled.

Meanwhile, a senior U.S. government official said that considering Pyongyang’s past actions, it would not be surprising if the North did not issue a clear position on whether it would return to the six-way nuclear talks during the meetings with Bosworth. The official said additional U.S.-North Korea talks will most likely be necessary.
