Early Warning System Set Up in Indonesia
Indonesia will be able to counter natural disasters more swiftly thanks to an information technology (IT) system developed by South Korea.
Korea International Cooperation Agency on Friday concluded a two-year three million dollar project to install an early warning system for natural disasters in Indonesia.
Also on Friday, the agency held a workshop with participation from some 50 officials from the Indonesian government, telecommunication companies, broadcasters and key operator of the project, SK C&C.
With the conclusion of this project, people in earthquake and tsunami-prone Indonesia will receive warning messages via cell phones, TVs in the event natural disasters occur.
The IT-based early warning system is currently being used by South Korea’s National Emergency Management Agency.
