S. Korean Oh Hye-ri Wins Taekwondo Gold

Anchor: South Korea's Oh Hye-ri has won the women's -67kg taekwondo gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games. With the latest gold, South Korea has earned a total of eight gold medals, three silver and eight bronze, taking eleventh place in the medal tally, as of Friday local time.

South Korea's Oh Hye-ri has won the women's -67kg taekwondo gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games.
In the final match at Carioca Arena 3 in Rio on Friday, Oh defeated Haby Niare of France.
The French number one player took the 3-0 lead with a kick to the head. After losing another point, Oh with her turning kick got three points and added six points in the blink of an eye.
After the fierce duel ended in a narrow margin of 13-12, Oh said that she was lucky.

"Haby Niare is ranked number one in the world. But she didn't seem to be in her best condition today. She may have suffered an injury yesterday. So, I think I was lucky in the Olympic final. But I prepared really hard and did my best without any regrets."
“I did a lap of honor that I had prepared for my victory and now no-one can call me number two anymore, right? I can sleep well now."
The 2015 world champion from South Korea was making her Olympic debut in Rio.
But before she won the world championship last year, her biggest achievement was a silver medal from the 2011 world taekwondo championships.
Oh's victory has given South Korea its second taekwondo gold medal in the Rio Games after Kim So-hui's title in the women's -49kg.
South Korea has never missed a medal in the female weight class since the martial art became an Olympic sport in 2000, winning four golds and a bronze.
With the latest gold, South Korea has earned a total of eight gold medals, three silver and eight bronze, taking eleventh place in the medal tally.
