NK Reports on Oil Spill in SK
2007-12-11

The North’s official Central Broadcasting Station reports on South Korea’s worst oil spill in waters off the southwestern scenic beach Taean, South Chungcheong Province.

Citing the South’s public broadcaster KBS, the report said a large amount of crude oil was spilled after a tanker collided with a barge carrying a crane.

The North’s broadcaster said about eight thousand tons of oil was released into the sea and formed 500 meter-wide slick which stretched three-point-six kilometers along the coastline.
